Edmonton Oilers Win Stanley Cup Finals, Clinching Franchise's Fifth Championship

Historic Victory: Oilers Overcome Record-Breaking Season to Claim Title

First Former WHA Team to Lift Iconic Trophy

The Edmonton Oilers have etched their name in hockey history, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals to clinch their fifth championship.

After a thrilling back-and-forth series that saw the Oilers rally from a 2-0 deficit to claim three consecutive wins in Edmonton, the team sealed their victory in Game 5. Evan Bouchard, Zach Hyman, Leon Draisaitl, and Connor McDavid each found the back of the net to secure the franchise's first Stanley Cup triumph since 1990.

The Oilers' victory marks a historic moment for the team, which became the first former World Hockey Association (WHA) squad to lift the Stanley Cup. The championship also ends a 31-year drought for Edmonton, which last won the title in 1990.

With their fifth Stanley Cup victory, the Oilers join an elite group of teams that have won multiple championships in the past decade. They also become the first Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
